Does avg and spybot search and destroy work on vista computers? Does avg and spybot search and destroy and Ad ware and cw shredder and ccleaner work on vista computers? and where can i get them for free that is safe

MourningHall replied: "yes it work, and yes it free. just go to their site."

Azrael replied: "Yes, they all work but you don't need cwshredder and Avast is far better than AVG. Use these: browser - - use this instead that malware magnet IE antivirus - antispyware - ................. - firewall - They are all the best in their category and FREE."

On windows Vista, what keep me from connecting to spybot and my anti-virus site to install or update software? I try to install Spybot and when it comes to the point where it tries to connect with their server, it disconnects with them. The same thing happens when I try to update the virus profile with Avast. I turn off the firewall and defender but it still does it. When the computer was first purchased everything was OK. Within the past few months is when this all happened. I can't even log into Yahoo on this computer.

I have just reloaded Spybot to my new computer with Vista? It appears to work fine but the protected is zero and the unprotected is showing 33,816. How do I fix this? I have immunized but nothing changes

Sandy G replied: "Immunize"

why doesnt spybot search and destroy work correctly on my windows vista? It always pops up with a stupid error

Compufix replied: "So what's the stupid Error say??????"

michael m replied: "right click the short cut and click "run as administrator". if that doesnt work just d'load the latest version again."

spybot+vista premium? i'm using vista premium at the moment, everytime when trying to immunize, a new windows always says "you're missing administrator's right to perform this action, if you need to do this, please run this application elevated as an administrator" i'm the only user of my computer, how come it says that i'm not the administrator of this computer???

Steve replied: "right click the program and choose "Run as administrator" you can also try turning off "User account control" I have Spybot running fine on Vista Premium"

5735guy replied: "Disable User Account Control (UAC) and this plus many other problems with Vista will go away. To do this : Open Control Panel. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account". Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready."

What caused this to happen? spybot? vista? either? I've posted numerous questions about why my yahoo videos were not working. I never got an answer. I've seen only 1 or 2 other people ask similar questions about why videos weren't playing from the yahoo homepage. All I seen was a black box and other videos to choose from but nothing would play. The videos worked about a year ago but stopped for no reason out of the blue. I just gave up trying to fix it. A year later I removed my Nortons anti-virus and installed avast and spybot. Now the videos from my yahoo homepage works fine just like it did a year ago. Do you think avast or spybot had anything to do with it? That's not why I installed them but I was curious if that was the cure. It seemed hopeless to fix the videos, and I tried for months so for them to work now is kinda weird. Any ideas?

rick replied: "had problems with my pc when i first got it removed norton and vista and pc was fine"

doc_holliday1863 replied: "I had the same problem a few weeks ago the videos ust would'nt play anymore useing IE I downloaded firefx and got some plug ins and the videos work fine. I allso noticed a day or so ago Yahoo videos are playing again while useing IE. I am useing Vista and nothing surprizes me anymore but this time i think Yahoo had alot to do with the vid's not working."

I've avast adaware free spybot and comodo firewall on my xp pc what should I use for vista laptop? I'm not sure if to use firefox and what is a good online scanner

GeneralKnowledge replied: "Avast, spybot, spyware blaster and comodo will work great"

Brett P replied: "I had no problem installing avast! on my Windows 7 installations (32 & 64 bit), so it should be fine on Vista. Not sure about Comodo, But the UAC and the Windows firewall should protect you fairly well. Your other scanners should run fine asa well if you download fresh copies from the manufacturer's websites (I like to steer clear of the big download sites)."

soldier612 replied: "vista is actually more secure than XP anyway...so you don't want to overwhelm your system...you can use all those programs ...just remember you cannot use more than one anti-virus OR firewall IE...is ok to use and firefox..either is fine and ..i personally don't use online scanners(personal choice) use the anti-virus on the machine you installed..I have Kapersky ..and I have not been disappointed.."
